- Framed 14x18” acrylic/mixed media on canvas / Floater frame in Guilded Silver
ABOUT THIS PAINTING
I painted this during a time when I was learning to let things fall apart. Not in a destructive way, but in the way ice melts into water. A necessary shift.
The layers in this piece tell that story. What sits on top isn’t what started beneath. I kept adding and removing, building and breaking down, until the piece found its own balance. That’s what healing felt like for me. Not erasing the past, but integrating it into something new.
The bright colours feel like light finding its way in. The gestural marks, the drips, the overlapping shapes, they’re all evidence of movement. Of not staying stuck.
I used to think healing meant arriving at some fixed, peaceful place. But creating this reminded me it’s more like dissolving into something truer. Softer. More whole.
