ABOUT THIS PAINTING
There’s a moment in every fall when you realize you’re no longer in control. Downfall is about that surrender, that point where resistance gives way and you just let gravity take over.
I created this with a sense of tumbling momentum. The marks feel like they’re moving downward, cascading and colliding as they go. There’s energy here, but it’s not frantic. It’s the strange calm that comes when you stop fighting what’s already happening.
The layers build and collapse into each other, heavy in some places and weightless in others. Downfall isn’t always destruction. Sometimes it’s the necessary descent before you can find solid ground again.
