ABOUT THIS PAINTING
There’s a certain vulnerability in saying something out loud that you’ve been holding close. Confession is about that moment, standing at the edge of honesty, not quite sure what happens when you speak.
The composition hovers between bold and hesitant. Bursts of colour push forward while softer marks pull back, like the push and pull of wanting to be seen and wanting to stay hidden. Nothing here is fully resolved because that’s what confession feels like. It’s messy and incomplete and brave all at once.
I left some areas intentionally lighter, almost exposed. They’re the parts that feel most vulnerable, the places where the layers underneath show through. That transparency felt important. Creating this reminded me that confession isn’t about perfection. It’s about the courage to let someone see the parts we usually keep covered.
